Grand Canyon day 2

Thank you, Jan Brewer, for making it possible to actually enter the Grand Canyon.  We were at dinner on Friday, 10/11, in a restaurant right outside the park. We spoke with our waiter who said they usually opened a 11:00 a.m., but because of the park closure they were opening at 4.  This was due to the fact that they weren't even getting 20% of the business they usually have at this time of year.  While we were eating he came over to our table and very excitedly informed us that the park would open on Sat. morning.  The news spread thoughout Tusayan, the town outside the park, where we were staying.

In the morning we were greeted by temperatures in the 70's and bright blue skies.  We were very lucky because due to the late announcement of the park's opening there weren't the large crowds that would normally be present over Columbus Day weekend.  Although the views yesterday were spectacular this was even better.  Each time I would approach a new viewing point I felt like it was the first time I had seen the canyon.  It is so awe inspiring that I never tired of seeing the view from a new vantage point.  I have so many pictures that I could fill several entries.  However, I will pick some and try to convey my experience.  The moments that meant the most were when I could stand alone and gaze out an the majestic view and simply reflect on what I was thinking and feeling.
