Grand Canyon day 1

As everyone knows the federal government has closed the national parks.  So as we traveled toward the canyon, I learned that the only way to see the canyon was to go on a helicopter ride.  So I began to do research.  At first it appeared that it would cost $400 for the ride, but as I went further, I found that a thirty minute ride would cost $190.00.  It made sense that I should do this, because after all I would never have a chance to see the canyon again.  After discussion, Vivian and Dick decided to book a flight too.  It was one of the best decisions I have made.  This was my first helicopter ride, but I wasn't afraid because I was so excited. The pictures will tell the story.

This will be one of the most memorable experiences of my life.  However, there was a surprise tonight while we were at dinner.  The waiter and the entire restaurant were celebrating that the canyon will open tomorrow morning.  We will be able to spend a couple hours until we have to leave for Sonoma.
